I’m working desperately to finish the tenth Alafair Tucker mystery, Forty Dead Men. I’ve already signed the contract and am supposed to get the manuscript to my editor next month for publication in February 2018. Now, I am not a fast writer, but I do work hard not only to get the deed done on time, but to do it well. I like the way the new book is shaping up, but even I don’t know exactly how it’s all going to work out in the end. That’s part of the joy of writing!

I have a few events in May. On May 7 I attended the Poisoned Pen Press 20th Anniversary party at the Poisoned Pen Bookstore in Scottsdale. Many fabulous authors were there, including Tammy Kaehler, James Sallis, and Dana Stabenow. I will be heading down to Tucson on May 13 to speak to the Tucson Writers about dialog, dialect and voice, and I have a couple of private events after that. In the meantime, I’m proud to share with you some links to nice reviews of two of my books. The lovely and delightful Mary Anna Evans, author of Burials, a Faye Longchamp Mystery, was a guest on a podcast called 3BookGirls on Soundcloud recently, and during her interview, she gave a nice review of The Old Buzzard Had It Coming. 3Bookgirls is a book review podcast out of Oklahoma. They interview authors about their latest works, and during the course of the interview, they ask the author to review a book that he/she likes. Mary Anna honored me! Click here for the link. Certainly listen to Mary Anna’s entire interview. But just in case you’re interested, the review of Buzzard begins at minute 38.

Kevin Tipple’s blog offered a nice review of Return of the Raven Mocker by Aubrey Hamilton on May 8. She “highly recommended” the book. For the full text, click here.

By the way, the first four Alafair Tucker Mysteries have new cover art. I haven’t fixed the thumbnail pictures yet, but if you’ll click on “About this book” under the thumbnails at left, you’ll see the new cover on the book page.

And now, I must go back to work.
