There was plenty of it, and most of it was homegrown. Southern California was the land of opportunity for good guys and bad alike in the early-to-mid twentieth century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I learned so many fascinating facts about the mob in early Hollywood that I couldn’t possibly use it all in a novel (re: the dreaded info dump that novelists try to avoid like the plague).
