Lots of news, my friends. I sent the final, edited, corrected, all-done version of Forty Dead Men to my publisher two days ago. It is now being copy edited (they’re looking for typos) and typeset. I sent a 250 word summary to my editor so she can create a publicity blurb, then it goes to the cover artist. The publication date at last report is February, 2018. I have to say that I liked the way this tenth Alafair Tucker adventure turned out. Now let us hope that you like it as well, Dear Reader.

The new Mystery Readers Journal is out. The theme is “Murder in Wartime”, and it includes an article I wrote about Oklahoma’s infamous Green Corn Rebellion during WWI. This is a great journal for mystery readers. So many articles by so many great writers!

I will be facilitating another ten-week creative writing seminar for the Arizona State University Emeritus College beginning Sept 21, so I’m brushing up on my writing exercises. I taught this course last fall, and discovered that science professors are accomplished writers, but they have a tendency to maintain a professional distance from the reader. Active voice in fiction, Professor. Active voice!

Also,  it looks like I’ll be returning to the motherland of Oklahoma in September, if the stars align. Below is the tentative schedule for the Backroads Tour of the Eastern OK Department of Libraries. When I have contact information for each library, I will add it to the Events page. I’m really looking forward to seeing you.
